Thousands of Robots Deployed; Armored Core VI Sells 2.8 Million Copies

Is it finally the return of the series?

In an exciting revelation during a recent YouTube stream, Ryo Shimokawa and Yasuyuki Kase, the accomplished Japanese voice actors portraying Pater and Rusty in Armored Core VI, announced that the game has exceeded an impressive 2.8 million copies in sales. This announcement came as the two actors were invited as special guests on the stream.

Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, an adrenaline-pumping mecha-based vehicular combat game, hails from the creative minds at FromSoftware and has been published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. This much-anticipated addition to the Armored Core series (which was absent for years) marks its triumphant return since the release of Armored Core: Verdict Day back in 2013. Available on a multitude of platforms including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, it delivers an immersive gaming experience across various systems.

At its core, the gameplay revolves around high-octane mecha-based vehicular combat. Players step into the shoes of adept pilots, taking command of formidable mechs referred to as Armored Cores. To amplify their performance, players are granted the freedom to customize their mechs using an extensive array of parts. Offering slots for weaponry on each arm and two on the mech’s rear, players have an array of options to tailor their loadouts and engage in pulse-pounding battles.

Debuting on August 25, 2023, Armored Core VI swiftly gained traction, selling an astounding 2.8 million copies in just over a month and a half. To put this feat into perspective, it surpasses the first-month sales of Dark Souls III, which reached three million copies in 2016.

While precise global sales figures for other titles in the Armored Core series remain undisclosed, it’s worth noting that in Japan alone, the series has amassed a dedicated following of up to 225 thousand copies. This sales figure stands as a testament to the resounding success of Armored Core VI, as it has outperformed its predecessors in the series by a significant margin.
