Following an electrifying, spoiler-packed showcase of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth on the latest State of Play broadcast, Square Enix and Sony dropped a bombshell (actually leaked a day before): a demo for all the die-hard fans to sink their teeth into was made available right after the showcase; As if we needed to be more hyped!
The demo is about 2 hours long and will take you through the iconic events at the city of Nibelheim, known very well by Final Fantasy VII fans for what transpire in this little town. While the demo save data won’t transfer to the official game, you’ll have the option to skip that part if you reach it in the full game. But if you finished the demo it is recommended not to delete it right away, as there’s more playable content! On February 21st, a second part of the demo will unlock, set in the city of Junon, offering even more open-world exploration for fans to enjoy. However, like the first part, your progress won’t carry over to the final game.
Finishing the demo will reward you with a Kupo charm, an accessory that boosts how many resources you receive, and a pack of handy items including potions, ethers, and phoenix downs.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is the second part of a three-part retelling of the Final Fantasy VII saga. Rebirth will also include a “Story So Far” video for newcomers who want to enjoy this entry without playing the first one. It’s set to release exclusively on PS5 on February 28th.
