As part of the major announcements at Tokyo’s Fan Fest for Final Fantasy XIV, Naoki Yoshida revealed that the game has now reached 30 million players worldwide, with an increase of 3 million users in the past 6 months alone.
The last player count update we received was 21 million, announced back in October 2021. Notably, this recent announcement comes a few months before the game’s release into the BETA testing phase for Xbox players.
Final Fantasy XIV stands as a monumental success story for Square Enix. Originally released in a disastrous state, producer Naoki Yoshida took charge and revitalized the game to its current well-regarded state, beginning with Final Fantasy XIV 2.0: A Realm Reborn. Since then, the game has continuously attracted an ever-growing global player base, solidifying its position as one of the best MMORPGs ever created and now celebrating a massive 30 million active players.
The highly anticipated 5th expansion, Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail, is set to release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S this summer.
