As reported by Wccftech, Housemarque CEO Ilari Kuittinen stated that their follow-up to Returnal, titled Saros, would not have been possible if the studio had remained independent and Sony had not acquired them.
Sony’s acquisition and investment allowed the team to move into new offices and hire new talent, enabling them to enter full production on Saros in 2022. While the exact budget was not explicitly revealed, reports suggest it is comparable to Alan Wake 2’s budget of €70 million (over $80 million).
