The wait for Phoenix City is going to be just a little bit longer.
Today, Sad Cat Studios and publisher Thunderful Games announced that their highly anticipated 2.5D sci-fi action-platformer, REPLACED, is shifting its launch date from March 12 to April 14, 2026.
While delays are never the news we want to hear—especially for a game that has been on my “Most Wanted” lists since its stunning E3 2021 reveal—this one comes with a very clear purpose. In an official statement, the developers noted that while the game is “technically finished,” the recent Steam demo provided crucial feedback that the team wants to act on.
“We want the version of REPLACED you play on day one to be polished, stable, and true to the vision we’ve shared with you,” the studio shared. As a small team working on their debut title, the pressure to stick the landing is high, and taking an extra month to ensure it’s “aesthetically pleasing” and mechanically sound is a move we have to respect.
The delay doesn’t change the platform lineup. When April 14 finally rolls around, you can find REPLACED on:
PC: Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG.
Xbox: Series X|S (Day One Xbox Game Pass title).
If you’re feeling the itch to jump in now, the demo is still live on Steam. Go get a taste of that grit and neon—it’ll make the next eight weeks go by tiny bit faster.
