
In a surprise drop, Square Enix has launched a Final Fantasy IX 25th Anniversary website, reigniting fan speculation about the long-rumored remake of the beloved RPG. While the website currently focuses on commemorative merchandise and upcoming collaborations, it teases additional announcements in the future.
The newly revealed anniversary merchandise includes:
- Zidane Tribal Figure ($46)
- Garnet Til Alexandros XVII Figure ($46)
- Garnet Silver Necklace ($250)
- Final Fantasy IX Plush Collection – Featuring Zidane, Vivi, Garnet, Steiner, Eiko, Quina, Salamander, Freya, Beatrix, and Kuja ($30)
- Final Fantasy IX 25th Anniversary Vinyl – Timeless Tales ($33)
The Timeless Tales vinyl release includes original tracks from the game, as well as a newly recorded version of Melodies of Life. The jacket features a brand-new 25th-anniversary illustration by Toshiyuki Itahana, with liner notes penned by legendary composer Nobuo Uematsu. As a bonus, the vinyl also includes a digital download code, allowing fans to enjoy the music even without a record player.
While Square Enix has not confirmed any video game projects, but the website indeed mentiones more announcements to come soon. Final Fantasy IX released for the first time in July 7, 2000. So let’s hope we see that remake announcement by then
