Nintendo and LEGO have been excelling with their amazing collaborations, transforming Nintendo characters and systems into incredible LEGO sets. They started with small Mario sets, then moved on to the eye-watering Super Mario 64 Question Mark Block set, the nostalgic Nintendo Entertainment System, the creative Super Mario Piranha Plant, and the gigantic Mighty Bowser set. But nothing beats their latest announcement: the 2-in-1 Great Deku Tree from The Legend of Zelda series, the first in the Zelda LEGO series.
Coming this September 1st, the Great Deku Tree set will be the most expensive Nintendo-themed LEGO set to date, priced at a whopping $299.99 (¥41,980 in Japan). The reason for the high price is that this set is actually two sets in one, allowing you to build the tree in two different forms, each with its own unique aesthetics.
The set lets you choose which aesthetic you prefer based on which entry of The Legend of Zelda is more appealing to you. With 2,500 pieces, you can build it based on either Ocarina of Time or Breath of the Wild. Whichever you choose, the set also includes characters from that entry, featuring designs of Link and Zelda, as well as characters like the Koroks and Hestu from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Although this is not the highest number of pieces for a Nintendo-themed LEGO set (as Mighty Bowser clocks in at 2,807 pieces), it is definitely the most diverse, interesting, and well-characterized Nintendo-themed LEGO set yet.
You can already pre-order the set on the LEGO official website if you can fork over the green bills for it. I, for sure, would send you a certificate of super fan for doing so (hey, I own three of the Mario sets, so no judgment here!).
