In a live stream event held before an enthralled audience in London, producer of Final Fantasy XIV, Naoki Yoshida, took the stage to unveil the most recent information about the highly anticipated expansion, Dawntrail, detailing an exciting new job, thrilling areas, raids and collaborations.
The grand announcement of Dawntrail took center stage during the first Fan Festival earlier this year in Las Vegas, marking a milestone moment for Final Fantasy XIV fans as they are promised to embrak in a new arc of the saga that took 10 years to conclude its first plotline.
After two years of anticipation, fans will finally embark on this new adventure with Dawntrail, scheduled for release in Summer 2024 on PC and Playstation. And for the first time since the game was released 10 years ago, Xbox players will also have access to both the base game and its expansions in the spring of 2024.
An Extended Trailer:
The event kicked off with an extended version of the reveal trailer from June, providing a more in-depth look at the new job, which appears to be the central role of the main hero, Meteor.
The New Job Revealed:
After the trailer reveal, Producer Naoki Yoshida appeared on stage dressed in cosplay as the new job that fans had been eagerly anticipating for this event.
And there it is, finally revealed: the first new job for the Dawntrail expansion, Viper, a melee DPS. This is one of two DPS jobs debuting in this expansion. Unlike jobs known from other Final Fantasy games, Viper is an original to Final Fantasy XIV, meticulously crafted for Dawntrail.
A New Adventure:
Alongside the main reveal, two beautiful key artworks were shown. One is a CG render of Meteor, depicting him in his new adventure to the City of Gold, while the other is an artwork of Meteor by the one and only Yoshitaka Amano, showcasing Meteor as Viper in the same art style known in the history of Final Fantasy.
