A legendary Super Nintendo RPG, Chrono Trigger, celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. To commemorate this milestone, we made a piece of Ermis ready to fight for it all with the silent protagonist, Crono.

Released on March 11, 1995, in Japan, and later that year in North America, Chrono Trigger was a landmark title that brought together the masterminds behind the Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest series like Hironobu Sakaguchi, Akira Toriyama and Yuji Horii . The game is celebrated for its intricate plot that follows a group of heroes on an epic journey through different eras, from the prehistoric past to a post-apocalyptic future, to save the world from an ancient parasite named Lavos.

Beyond its compelling time-travel narrative, Chrono Trigger is beloved for its vibrant art style by Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama (which we tried our best to do justice, and Elmer definitly nailed it), a revolutionary combat system that integrated enemy encounters directly into the world map, and a phenomenal musical score. The game’s multiple endings, based on player choices, were groundbreaking for their time and encouraged players to explore every facet of its rich story. Over the last three decades, Chrono Trigger has been re-released on numerous platforms and is consistently ranked as one of the greatest video games ever made, influencing countless RPGs that followed.
