PlayStation’s acclaimed gothic masterpiece is officially making the leap from console to cinema, as an R-rated animated Bloodborne movie is now in active development. While fans have spent years clamoring for a modern remaster or a full-fledged sequel, this adaptation promises to offer a brand-new way to experience the harrowing, blood-soaked streets of Yharnam.
Bringing the suffocating tension and cosmic dread of Bloodborne to life is no small feat, but Sony has already assembled a passionate team to make it happen. The film is being co-produced by PlayStation Productions and Lyrical Animation, the studio bringing its animation expertise to the grim Victorian setting. Surprisingly, prominent YouTuber and massive FromSoftware fan Seán “Jacksepticeye” McLoughlin has also signed on to co-produce the project. McLoughlin has publicly promised to “fight tooth and nail” to ensure the adaptation is as faithful and high-quality as possible.
With dedicated animation and production teams already locked in and actively shaping this dark cinematic vision, it seems Yharnam is in very passionate hands. We will be keeping a close eye on this project as it develops. Until then, may the good blood guide your way.
