During The Game Awards pre-show today, Atlus unveiled another trailer for the highly anticipated RPG Metaphor: ReFantazio titled ‘The Royal Tournament,’ showcasing a release date window set for Fall 2024.
The trailer showcases fresh gameplay scenes, an introduction to the story and its fantasy setting, and highlights key team members:
Katsura Hashino – Director (known for Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne, Persona 3, Persona 4, Persona 5)
Shigenori Soejima – Character Designer (renowned for Persona 3, Persona 4, Persona 5)
Shoji Meguro – Composer (credited for Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne, Persona 3, Persona 4, Persona 5)
Koda Kazuma – Concept Artist (known for notable work on NieR:Automata)
Ikuto Yamashita – Mechanical Designer (credited for notable work on Neon Genesis Evangelion)
Additionally, ATLUS is set to host a special YouTube live broadcast in Japan for the game on December 11. This event will feature guests from the Japanese Voice Actors cast, including Natsuki Hanae (Protagonist), Sumire Morohoshi (Gallica), Kensho Ono (Strohl), and Saori Hayami (Hulkenberg).
Also Atlust shared some new concept art for Metaphor: ReFantazio showing the world and settings of the game.
Metaphor: ReFantazio is a hot and coming role-playing game developed by Studio Zero and published by Atlus. It will be their first wholly original game since the studio’s establishment in 2016, and developed by members who have previously contributed to various titles in the Megami Tensei franchise.
Metaphor: ReFantazio takes place in a medieval European-inspired fantasy setting that is considered the “mirror” to the contemporary backdrop of the real world, and follows a non-silent protagonist who must embark on a journey to protect their kingdom, while overcoming numerous obstacles and forging alliances with many companions he meets along the way.
Metaphor: ReFantazio was announced under its codename, “Project Re Fantasy” in December 2016 alongside the establishment of Studio Zero, a new development team within Atlus comprised primarily of alumni who were formerly associated with P-Studio, the primary development team responsible for the modern Persona games. The game was officially unveiled in June 2023.
