In a grand reveal, Bandai Namco released a colossal release date trailer to showcase the 20-million-seller smash hit Elden Ring and its gigantic expansion, “Shadow of the Erdtree,” which will welcome the tarnished back to its world on June 21st.

So yes, it is official: Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is coming on June 21st to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.

And here it is, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is finally here, promising a grand new map to discover, more bosses to be defeated by, and more weapons to master.

Hidetaka Miyazaki, the renowned creator of the Soulslike genre and the head of FromSoftware, told Eurogamer that this DLC is the biggest expansion the company has ever worked on.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is going to feature a totally new map called the Land of Shadow, expected to be larger than Limgrave itself. This new map will be separate from the Land Between, and players are expected to use a warp mechanic to access it, making it a physically separated map from the base game map.

“This time, we wanted to go more in-depth and bring a denser and richer level design, which brings these types of layout together a little more seamlessly,” said Miyazaki to Eurogamer. “There will, of course, be large open areas and legacy dungeons, but we’ve also experimented with something a little more in-between these as well to bring a more diverse gameplay experience.”

Shadow of the Erdtree will come with 10 new bosses, with at least one being as challenging as the taxing grand battle with Malenia, a fight that is not just iconic to Elden Ring but to the entirety of the Soulslike genre, making this news quite exciting for all of us tranished out there.

The expansion will feature 8 new weapon categories to master and a plethora of field areas, legacy dungeons, and other smaller dungeons that seamlessly transition into one another. There will also be a brand new poison swamp, a definitive Soulslike classic.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree will be available for $39.99, a price tag which I believe many fans won’t mind if the adventure matches the price. Additionally, there will be a Collector’s Edition priced at $249.99, which includes a code for the expansion but not the whole complete edition with the base game. The game will be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
