In a stunning display of production efficiency, Nihon Falcom has officially unveiled Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter. This full remake of The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky SC is the direct sequel to the 1st Chapter remake that was released last year.
This announcement highlights an incredible accomplishment by the production team: delivering two massive, fully remade entries in this legendary RPG series just one year apart. Western publishing will be handled by GungHo Online Entertainment. The game is scheduled for a worldwide release in Fall 2026 on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch and PC (via Steam)
The story picks up immediately after the explosive conclusion of the first game. After quelling the coup d’etat that shook the Kingdom of Liberl, Estelle and Joshua are promoted to senior bracers. However, victory is short-lived.
On the eve of the Queen’s Birthday Festival, Joshua reveals a dark truth about his past and vanishes into the night, leaving behind only his harmonica and a heartbreaking farewell.
Armed with unshakeable determination, Estelle embarks on a continent-spanning quest across Liberl to find her missing partner. Her personal journey coincides with the violent emergence of the sinister society of Ouroboros, who plunge the nation into chaos as the capital is engulfed in flames and a colossal airship darkens the skies. Confronted with the greatest crisis in Liberl’s history, Estelle must untangle a deep web of conspiracy and face the looming threat of the “Shining Ring” to save her home.
The game rewards loyal players with seamless continuity, allowing them to carry over clear data from the 1st Chapter to unlock bonus items that aid progression. Combat has also evolved significantly, expanding the system with new Crafts and S-Crafts, while the new “Brave Rush” mechanic lets players link character attacks during Quick Battles alongside a mastered Orbment system for powerful Arts. Beyond the main story, the world opens up with expansive side content, inviting players to cook with companions, enjoy minigames like fishing and poker, and recruit fan-favorite characters to their party.
