Xbox Game Studios and Obsidian Entertainment have announced that the first-person action RPG Avowed will officially launch on PlayStation 5 on February 17, 2026. This release is timed to celebrate the game’s one-year anniversary, following its initial debut on Xbox Series X|S and PC. The PlayStation arrival will coincide with a major “Anniversary Update” available across all platforms, bringing a host of highly requested features to the experience.
The upcoming update is the game’s most substantial to date, focusing on community feedback gathered over the past year. Key additions include a dedicated New Game Plus mode, allowing players to carry over their skills and abilities into a more challenging second journey. The update also introduces a Photo Mode to capture the game’s vibrant landscapes, a brand-new quarterstaff weapon type tailored for wizard builds, and additional character customization options—including new Godlike presets and the ability to change your appearance mid-game via a “magic mirror” at camp.
Avowed is set in the fantasy world of Eora, the same universe as Obsidian’s critically acclaimed Pillars of Eternity series. However, while Pillars was an isometric, traditional CRPG, Avowed shifts the perspective to a modern, immersive 3D format. Players take on the role of an envoy from the Aedyr Empire, sent to the mysterious and wild Living Lands to investigate the Dream Scourge—a spiritual plague that is corrupting the island’s inhabitants. Avowed is now availble on GamePass via Xbox and PC.
