The puzzle pieces for our return to Raccoon City are finally coming together. Today, via the official @RE_Games Twitter account, Capcom officially pulled back the curtain on the voice and motion-capture talent bringing the dual-protagonists of Resident Evil Requiem to life.
While rumors have been swirling for months, we can finally put the speculation to rest: Angela Sant’Albano is stepping into the shoes of our new heroine, Grace Ashcroft, and the legendary Nick Apostolides is officially returning to voice Leon S. Kennedy.
Let’s talk about Leon first. For long-time fans, hearing that Nick Apostolides is back in the tactical gear is the best news we could have asked for. After absolutely nailing the transition from a rookie cop in the RE2 Remake to the hardened, roundhouse-kicking agent of the RE4 Remake, Apostolides is the modern voice of Leon.
In Requiem, we are getting an older, more seasoned “veteran” Leon, operating roughly 30 years after the original Raccoon City incident. Knowing Apostolides is back in the booth guarantees that the emotional weight of Leon’s traumatic history with the city will be delivered perfectly.
On the other side of the Requiem coin, we have our brand-new lead, FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft. Voicing Grace is Angela Sant’Albano, an actress whom television fans will recognize from the hit HBO series Industry and I Hate Suzie with her Apple TV movie debut Genius.
This is a massive role to take on. Capcom has made it clear that Requiem operates on a 50/50 split campaign. While Leon’s sections will lean heavily into the action-combat we know and love, Grace’s sections are pure, old-school survival horror. Grace is an introverted, terrified analyst who finds herself kidnapped and thrown into the nightmare. Early snippets of Sant’Albano’s voice work have already been praised by the community for sounding genuinely anxious, perfectly capturing a character who is fighting way out of her weight class.
With the game’s February 27 release date practically breathing down our necks, this casting confirmation is just pouring gasoline on the hype fire. Between Sant’Albano’s fresh, terrified perspective and Apostolides bringing that veteran swagger, Requiem is shaping up to be an unforgettable chapter in the franchise.
