    Granblue Fantasy Relink Update

The highly anticipated Action RPG, Granblue Fantasy: Relink (Amazon), is gearing up for its release on February 1st. To generate excitement for the impending launch, CyGames has released a demo version allowing everyone to get a taste of what’s to come in this sky-pirates themed tale.

After trying out the demo, we compiled a list of the best units you can play with. While this list is based on our own observations and playstyle, we’ve included a summary that may help you determine if a particular unit would fit your play style.

So here is the list of the best units in Granblue Fantasy: Relink.

    #1 - Lancelot

Granblue Fantasy Relink Best Characters Lancelot

Without a doubt in my mind, Lancelot—whom I tag as the Combo King—is the best character to play with in Granblue Fantasy: Relink due to his swift and fast combos. Besides, who among us doesn’t love a dual-swords wielder? Although he is specifically a water unit, and all his attacks are water-based, his play style is almost unstoppable, he even literally can evade while attacking by using his special attack which gives him an advantage even against monsters of his element due to how much combos you can land on one monster. Lancelot is a force to be reckoned with on the field, and you will not regret playing as him, not even for a second.

Who is this unit for: Those who appreciate a very fast-paced play style with unlimited combos delivered by a very hot character!

    #2 - Io

Io is definitely the best ranged unit out there. She is proficient with different elemental magic, possesses a chargeable non-elemental spell, and has the ability to heal everyone on the scene due to her gigantic healing area of effect. So, what’s not to love here? She can truly be a versatile unit, excelling in elemental magic and supporting the team simultaneously. She is undoubtedly an asset that you’d want to try either playing as her or including in your team, especially for her healing powers.

Who is this unit for: Those who prefer staying away from monsters while efficiently calling hell upon them, then playing the goody-goody healer role for their companions to save everyone’s butts.

    #3 - Katalina

Granblue Fantasy Relink Best Characters Katalina

Katalina is my absolute favorite. I really like one-sworded knights and Katalina delivers an amazing balance of knighthood swordsmanship and magic. She is a water unit using water based abilities, and she also possesses healing magic for when it is needed making her a very effective solo unit when required. She is moderately fast and delivers finishing combos that raise a special bar for more devastating skills as she calls upon a water spirit to deal extra damage when full, making her one of the top damage dealers out there. You can’t go wrong with the Ice Queen.

Who is this unit for: Those who appreciate a moderately fast unit that uses elemental magic and can solo anything in its way while looking as elegant as a princess!

    #4 - Rackam

Granblue Fantasy Relink Best Characters Lancelot Rackam

What is a pirate-themed game without a gunslinger? Rackam is here, and he’s here to stay. Although he is a ranged unit, he brings wit and bombs with him, and I do mean BOMBS. His play style comes with a twist—you can use your gun to heat things up, then just blow that heat onto the poor goblins trying to come at you. But he also comes equipped with skills that raise your attack, bullet rate, and effects. Even with how slow he is, he has skills specifically for him to fly around and dodge things. And hey, he is sexy!

Who is this unit for: Those who like witty pirates with guns that can obliterate a monster from afar while looking as hot as the volcanic-heated skills you throw at them.

    #5 Yodarha

Granblue Fantasy Relink Best Characters yodarha

Don’t mind the size of this guy; he uses his swords, and he puts them to good use. His play style is among the fastest, but here is the twist: for every combo finisher you deal, you will get a buff to enhance your next skill use, allowing it to deal a gigantic amount of damage. The only disadvantage to his play style is that you can lose that buff pretty fast, unlike units like Katalina. However, when he lands these hits when they are buffed, he does LAND these hits when they are buffed.

Who is this unit for: Those who like cute things that can really deal some hurt. He may not be as fast as the next unit coming after him, but he is indeed capable of doing more damage when he is ‘angwy’!

    #6 Charlotta

Granblue Fantasy Relink Best Characters charlotta

When you see Charlotta, you might think that this little sweet thing can’t really be someone who would harm a fly, and probably you are right, but our lady here has a couple of hands that don’t stop, literally. She has an unlimited basic combo that only stops with a finisher, and you can even do a simple dodge and continue slashing the enemy non-stop. The only disadvantage is that these little fast, unlimited combos are weak in damage and can’t really be such a buffer to deal a huge amount of it.

Who is this unit for: Those who like to fight something five times their size and leave fast little scratches on them hoping they will eventually fall right after.

    #7 Zeta

Zeta is probably one of the best Dragoon-type characters I’ve played in any video game. The reason is that you can literally chain and continue your combos when you are in the ‘Jump’ mode, making her utterly fun to play. Even her skills would give you an opening to maintain this aerial combo. Although I don’t view her as a huge damage dealer, she indeed stands out as a very unique unit for how you can play her alone.

Who is this unit for: Those who like to master aerial combos and play a long round of ‘The Floor is Lava.’

    #8 Gran

Gran is the OP unit, although he has a limiting play style, but he is definitely your “go-to” if you want something easy and simple. He is definitely one of the units that will provide you with everything you need, from attack power to elemental magic and even sub-healing. The reason I rank him lower is that there isn’t really any twist to playing him; he is a straightforward unit and easy to use while achieving huge damage.

Who is this unit for: Those who are comfortable with a straightforward play style and just want to relax and enjoy the flashy battle system.

    #9 Siegfried

One of the slowest units in the game and the king of deflecting, some people will love him for his precision attacks where you have to press the button to chain the combo right on time and also his counter-attack abilities. However, I personally lean towards units that are faster in combos, especially in games like Granblue Fantasy: Relink where monsters are very fast with lower staggering chances as the chances of your slow combos getting interrupted are higher since you can’t stagger the monster easily.

Who is this unit for: Those who enjoy precision in fighting with the ability to deliver counter-attacks when danger seems imminent.

    #10 Narmaya

I want to be clear out something first: Narmaya is definitely one of the best units out there yet the only reason why I am ranking her so low is that she is more of a crowd management unit than a combo-based unit. Due to the fact that the demo featured more single-boss fights than crowd fights, Narmaya didn’t shine as much as she could. I would definitely want to test her with multiple monsters coming at her to see how she shines. Narmaya excels in attacks that take the shape of a cone, allowing her to hit different monsters and gain ability buffs while doing so which can be used for her next ability attack.

Who is this unit for: Those who like to hit 20 monsters at once and help their teammates finish a sea of monsters marching towards them.

    #11 Ghandagoza

The slowest unit in the game, although this is not a bad thing because his precision combos can charge his special attack and deal unbelievable amount of damage. However, much like Siegfried, this unit faces the challenge of dealing with spongy monsters. It is hard to break or stagger them quickly, making you prone to having your combos interrupted at any given moment. But if you are a master precision attacks and can perfectly evade critical hits on time, this unit is monsterous.

Who is this unit for: Those who like big, bulky monsters that can make enemies scream in pain. He can deal significant damage, but you need to be perfect at precision gameplay to unlock his full potential.
