Playdigious has announced that the critically acclaimed retro-inspired RPG Sea of Stars, developed by Sabotage Studio, will officially launch on iOS and Android on April 7, 2026. The mobile version will be priced at $9.99, with a 10 percent pre-order discount currently available on the App Store and Google Play. This port marks a major milestone for the title, bringing its celebrated turn-based adventure to mobile users more than two years after its blockbuster debut on consoles and PC.
Sea of Stars tells the story of two Children of the Solstice, Zale and Valere, who wield the powers of the sun and moon to perform Eclipse Magic. This is the only force capable of stopping the Fleshmancer, an ancient alchemist threatening their world. The game became a breakout hit for its “Sabotage touch,” which modernizes 16-bit RPG tropes by removing random encounters and transitions to separate battle screens. Instead, combat takes place directly in the world, utilizing a “Locks” system where players must hit specific damage types to break enemy spells and a timed-hit mechanic reminiscent of classics like Super Mario RPG.
The mobile adaptation, handled by the porting specialists at Playdigious, is not a simple direct port. It features a revamped user interface designed specifically for touch controls, though it remains fully compatible with external controllers. To ensure a smooth experience, the game supports Cloud Saves, allowing players to jump between devices, and includes platform-specific achievements for both Google Play and the App Store. Following the studio’s philosophy, the mobile release will be a premium, “one low price” experience with no ads or microtransactions.
